The Bagambes

Hoima, Uganda

Allan and Mikala are spreading the message of Christ’s love through evangelism, teaching, and one-on-one discipleship.  Mikala, a KSU graduate and trained with us in Manhattan Kansas for several years, met Allan while on a mission trip; and they were married in 2022. In addition to other ministry responsibilities the Bagambes have the privilege of raising Alan’s younger brothers, giving them the opportunity be raised in a loving home, and receive a quality education.

“Hunter”

Suleman

Rural Nigeria

Suleman Mainsule is bringing the Gospel to desperate rural populations, often in areas suffering Muslim persecution. He demonstrates the love of Christ through free medical clinics, clean water wells, and other economic development projects. His passion for medical missions stems from a very unique family history. His grandfather was Muslim prince in northern Nigeria, who converted to Christianity at a Mission Hospital.

Covert Operations in Central Asia

We are excited to expand the mission of Derakim to new lands by partnering with “Hunter” (not his real name). Hunter is also a KSU graduate who has been part of our ministry for several years in Manhattan. He is now headed to serve Christ in Central Asia. This unnamed country (which ends with “stan”), is almost 90% Muslim and very resistant to the gospel. Hunter will be working on language learning, economic development strategies, and most importantly cultivating long-term discipleship relationships with nationals. We are looking forward to him assisting us with projects in other countries as well.

The Ilungas

Congolese Refugees (Manhattan, Kansas)

We met the Ilungas in 2021 while visiting Mikala (see above) in Uganda. Having recently fled the horrors of war-torn Congo, this very large family was surviving day to day, praying about where they would end up “long term.” They immediately grabbed our hearts, and we began assisting them from across the ocean.  To make a very long, very miraculous story short, they now live down the street from us in Manhattan Kansas, and we have the joy of helping them make adjustments to the U.S., and watching them excel in their education and vocational lives … and in their faith.

Sara’s School

Murchison Falls Region, Uganda

We met Sara “by chance” while at Murchison Falls National Park. She was our safari guide, full of knowledge about flora and fauna (and toting a machine gun to keep elephants and rhinos at bay.) As we talked with her, we found out that she loves Jesus, and grew up as an orphan. She now uses her meager income to run a school for destitute children, like she was. We visited the school in June of this year, and decided to partner with her. First of all, we identify “true orphans” who needed their fees covered. Since then we have been upgrading her school facilities, and praying about other ways to help her vision grow.

Joseph’s Kids

Kabale, Uganda

Joseph has been a friend of the ministry for several years. He is a “true orphan” who knows the heartache of being alone, and his dream is to open a facility where desperate children will experience the love and support of a family. He completed a course in nursing, and will wrap up a physician’s assistant course in December. Currently Joseph is identifying children in need and connecting them with Western partners. This provides them with education, a safe place to live, and other necessities.

“Mission Kaigi”

Nairobi, Kenya

In October, Tad and Hunter (see article on Central Asia) will be traveling to Nairobi Kenya. One of the primary reason for this trip will be to help Joseph Kaigi, a longtime friend of Derakim. This married father of two is stranded working in an Arab country, hundreds of miles away from his wife and children. This sad situation reflects the plight of countless African caught in similar circumstances. Tad and Hunter plan to meet up with Joseph Kaigi in October, to help provide him with an economic solution in his home country, and return him to his family. (Very specifically, he is a trained driver, and we hope to buy him a vehicle.)
The Bagambes (see article above) will also be in Nairobi at the time attempting to obtain a Visa for Alan. They need to come to the U.S. and address serious health issues that Mikala is experiencing.
